Level 3 Offender Hamilton Apprehended
Less than four days after he walked away from a halfway house, level 3 offender Roderick Lamoryne Hamilton turned himself in to the Hennepin County Jail January 4.

The DOC has issued a warrant for the arrest of a level three predatory sex offender who is no longer complying with the conditions of his release from prison.
Roderick Lamoryne Hamilton finished his prison sentences for first degree criminal sexual conduct, escape from work release, stolen property and theft on November 28, 2011, and was put on Intensive Supervised Release (ISR) in Hennepin County. ISR is the closest form of monitoring the DOC has for offenders who are released from prison.
On Saturday night, Hamilton cut his GPS bracelet and walked away from his halfway house placement.
Hamilton is 43 years old. He is African American, 6’0”, 180 pounds, with black, shaved hair and brown eyes. He has a mustache and a small goatee.
Citizens should not attempt to confront Hamilton. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the DOC’s 24-hour tipline at 651-603-0026.

The DOC held numerous events November 13-19 in recognition of National Restorative Justice Week. Facilities hosted informational booths, fundraisers, apology letter workshops, guest speakers, and victim impact training to educate offenders about the Restorative Justice program and the impact their crimes have on communities. 
Offenders at the Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF)-Willow River/Moose Lake donated $3,500 to three groups. First Witness is the only child advocacy center in Northeast Minnesota that helps provide safe interviewing, counseling, follow-up information, and support to abused children. The REACH program is a nonprofit agency that provides mentoring programs for youth with limited exposure to role models and mentors in their lives. Carlton County Sexual and Domestic Abuse Program provides free services to victims of family and sexual abuse in Carlton County. 
Offenders at the MCF-Faribault built two playhouses that were donated to non-profits in the Moose Lake area – Safe Haven Shelter and Lutheran Social Services-Bethany Crisis Shelter. Safe Haven Shelter provides shelter and services to women and children affected by physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Bethany Crisis Shelter provides care for children experiencing crisis in their lives. |

In early November, the first Department of Corrections Crisis Intervention Class graduated from training. This program provides
tools, strategies, and techniques that will allow corrections staff, behavioral health providers, and advocates to work together
to better deal with mentally ill offenders during their incarceration.

Warden Supports National Guard Employees
Stillwater warden Michelle Smith has received a Patriot Employer Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense – Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The award recognizes her support of service member employees. Smith was nominated by a corrections officer Josh Riviere who is serving overseas. More information on ESGR

Web-Based Message System Enhances Security and Helps Offender Families
The DOC will begin piloting a secure web-based messaging system for offenders at the Oak Park Heights and Shakopee prisons this week.
The pilot program will allow family and friends to send messages to offenders through a secure website. The system will significantly lower contraband introduced into the facilities and allow for better surveillance and monitoring of offender correspondence.
