Intern Opportunities We have recently enhanced and expanded our internship program to provide students with a more comprehensive learning experience. Interns participating in our program will begin the internship session by attending a day and a half orientation at the department’s central office in St. Paul. This orientation will provide students with an overview of the department and some valuable training. During the Interns time with the Department they will be offered opportunities to tour some of the correctional facilities. These seminars will include tours of facilities, speakers from specialized areas of the department and time to discuss individual experiences in the program. The department offers unique opportunities for students with our numerous facilities and probation and parole offices located throughout the state. The goal of our program is to offer an individualized learning experience by maintaining flexibility with students in scheduling and in achieving academic needs. All internship opportunities are available to students who are enrolled in a college or university that offers course credit for internships. A stipend is not provided for our program. Please submit an application for area of interest even if you do not see a posting for that position. We will work with the intern to provide the most comprehensive and extensive intern experience that the Department can. All DOC internships carry a minimum of 400 internship hours or one full semester length.
